Qnext is a free all-in-one communications and sharing suite. It currently can run on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It consists of a multi-protocol instant messenger that can connect to Windows Live, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, Google Talk, and iChat. It supports both audio and video chat with any of your contacts and with other users of Qnext. It allows you to share files with other users. And it also comes with a remote control suite that works just like Teamviewer.
The instant messenger looks quite good. It allows you to add accounts easily and they are sorted in the main window quite cleanly. Contacts are separated by folder icons that you can expand. When you double click a contact, you can start chatting with him/her and you can also access the other services this suite offers. Video and audio chat and the MyPC remote control app are easy to access. I noticed that when I added my Windows Live account to Qnext, the application started popping up strange error messages quite constantly. I couldn't fix the problem and it became too annoying.
The other noteworthy feature is MyPC. It allows you to control another user's computer just like if you were in front of it. The feature worked well and it was easy to set up. Finally, there is a setting that allows you to share files with other users, but the most interesting part is that it allows you to share your music library with other people, and setting it up was a breeze.
If it wasn't for the weird error messages, I would totally give Qnext control of my IM accounts.
